What is Take Action Films?
Take Action Films is an independent media production and distribution company in the heart of downtown Toronto, Canada. Founded by filmmaker Andrew Nisker during the production of his first feature documentary Garbage! The Revolution Starts at Home, Take Action Films has been the home of award-winning, thought-provoking, socially conscious work ever since. Our films have been on television screens in homes around the world – CBC, TVO, Netflix, TF1, Sundance Channel, Yes! – and have been screening at film festivals across the globe – Docs DF, Hot Docs, Cinemambiente, FIFE, Planet In Focus – year in and year out.
Who is a part of Take Action Films?
Take Action Films was founded by Andrew Nisker nearly a decade ago, and he continues to steer the ship today. We’ve worked and continue to work alongside writers, producers, cinematographers, musicians, designers, artists – you name it. While we may be a smaller indie company with a few permanent staff members, Take Action Films has a large and ever-growing circle of friends and collaborators in the environmental and filmmaking worlds.
Does Take Action Films accept manuscripts or pitches?
At Take Action Films, we’re always keeping an eye out for new voices and new perspectives. If you’ve got something fresh and exciting you think fits with our mandate – environmental; social; investigative; cutting edge – we’d certainly like to hear from you.
How can I submit something like that to Take Action Films?
If you have an idea for a project you’d like to share with us, you can contact us at email@example.com and we’ll be sure to get back to you soon.
How can I apply for a job or internship at Take Action Films?
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to introduce yourself. Please include your resume and a link to an online demo reel if possible.
How can I arrange for press interviews or to receive screeners of films for review?
We are always happy to accommodate press requests. If you would like to set-up an interview, or if you would like to view one of our films for review, please contact us at email@example.com with your name and publication. When it comes to film reviews, our standard practice is to send a temporary link to a private, online screener of the film in question.
How can I host a screening of one of your films or a speaking engagement with the director for my organization?
Since our very first film, we have toured our movies and screened for elementary schools, colleges and universities, corporate events, churches, community centres, and everything in between. If you’d like to purchase a screening license, check out the various options we have in our store for events here:
If you’d like to have the director, Andrew Nisker, speak at your event as well, or have more questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If distance is an issue, hosting Andrew over Skype for a chat and/or Q&A about the film is a possibility.
