THIS FILM IS GARBAGE!
Filmmaker and environmental activist Andrew Nisker’s 2007 hit documentary, Garbage! The Revolution Starts At Home ended with a question: Will the future be greener for our children? To answer that question, Nisker is back with a new documentary, This Film is Garbage! And 18 years later, a lot has happened in the world. Climate change is no longer a theoretical issue; its effects are painfully evident in species extinction, extreme weather, rising oceans and more. Is the future greener—or bleaker—than before? Nisker is back and on the case to find out.
Nisker investigates the story of Canada’s garbage and since this country produces more of it than any other country in the world, it’s a big story. He speaks with a variety of experts to see if progress has been made. He turns up little known and innovative solutions to our garbage crisis. From the textile industry, to food waste, to packaging and plumbing, disruptors are at work in the fight against garbage. The statistics are dire but Nisker finds ingenuity, hope and even humour in the darkness. In 2007, he asked if the future would be greener. This Film is Garbage! gives us the answer.
